PHILIP BROWN - Chair and co-Founder


Phil,was our treasurer from 2008 - 2019) He was a partner in a City law firm

specialising in international finance. He was managing partner for six years.

He has visited India many times and is a passionate believer in helping the poor

to help themselves through careful funding.

ANDREW CRIGHTON ~ our Secretary

Andrew brings a deep understanding of poverty and its outcomes, chairing a highly respected night-shelter in the south of England. His experience of guiding Schools out of Special Measures brings insights into how difficult situations must and can be remedied.

JOHN WILDE ~ became our Treasurer in 2019 as Phil Brown retired (see below)  John has recently retired from Commercial Insurance in the City after nearly 49 years. He has experience of charities having been treasurer of a substantial charity in Colchester for over 20 years. He also had some charity clients when working in Insurance and therefore has a knowledge of the insurance needs of charities. 

DR LAURIE GREEN - Co-Founder (Chair 2008 - 2018)   

Bp Laurie has wide international experience and, being now retired,

is able to visit the projects in India quite regularly. He has published widely,

to include books on globalisation and on poverty. He has extensive

charity trustee experience.

CHRISTOPHER BROWN - Co-Founder (Secretary 2008 - 2018)


Chris has long-standing and intimate knowledge of the Indian scene having

taught post-graduate courses in Southern India. Before retirement he was the 

Chief Executive Officer of the respected charity, NSPPC.


Retired in 2010 having spent most of his career as an investment banker focusing on the Middle East and Asian regions.  He spent over five years working on transactions in India including the successful establishment HDFC Bank now the largest Indian commercial banks. 


Simon,  worked in a City accountancy firm for 20 years before setting up his own

accountancy practice 10 years ago. He has had some involvement with charities

at work and has been Treasurer at a local charity in Kelvedon, Essex for over 10 years. He has retained an interest in developing countries

from living abroad in his early life and is a keen supporter of self-help charity.
